Training Setting

On a broad scale, training occurs within UF Health, the largest and most comprehensive academic health center in the Southeast United States. UF Health encompasses six colleges and a statewide network of affiliated hospitals and clinics. The Department of Clinical and Health Psychology is housed directly on the UF Health campus with easy access to our free-standing outpatient practice, UF Health Psychology Specialties. The Department is integrated as an essential component of UF Health services and disciplines, including but not limited to the ones listed below. All of these provide opportunities for in-depth participation by our trainees.

Service delivery and training and education activities take place within the UF Health Shands Teaching Hospital and, to a great extent, UF Health Psychology Specialties. UF Health Psychology Specialties provides comprehensive psychological services to outpatients in the greater Gainesville community and patients of UF Health Shands Hospital. UF Health Psychology Specialties serves as the primary training site for the psychology graduate, internship and postdoctoral training programs. In addition, service delivery by postdoctoral fellows and related training occurs within outpatient interdisciplinary clinics and inpatient settings throughout UF Health Shands Hospital.

The University of Florida is located in the beautiful city of Gainesville, which is the largest city in Alachua County. The city offers excellent cost of living, affordable housing, schools, and numerous outdoor activities. It also serves as the cultural, educational, and commercial center for the North Central Florida region.
